As one of the 2026-27 artists in residence at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis I am excited to reimagine my 2023 installation En Duelo.

This installation was first realized as part of my Blood Memory show at Public Functionary in 2023, dedicated to my love Paige Coletti and created as a space where we could grieve both individually and communally.

En Duelo transforms public space into a shared place of remembrance, reflection, and collective grieving. At En Duelo, participants are invited to contribute photos and letters honoring loved ones to communal altars, creating an evolving memorial shaped by the community. Surrounded by others moving through their own experiences of loss, visitors are also offered space for quiet meditation, personal reflection, and individual grief.

You are invited to bring photos or items in honor of your loved ones which can either be left on the altars or taken home. There will also be a work station where visitors can print pictures and write letters to loved ones to be placed on the altars.

The installation will be set up in the grove of hawthorn trees in the mausoleum courtyard. In the event of rain, this event will be moved into the Memorial Chapel. We will make the call a couple of hours before the event and signs will be posted.

Accessibility info: Please park along the road or in the driveway of the Garden Mausoleum for elevator access. This will take you down to the garden level where you can access the installation via a short walk on smoothly paved sidewalks. Signs will be posted. The installation is outdoors on a level, grassy area. In the event of rain, we will move into the Memorial Chapel. This building has a wheelchair accessible ramp and parking, however it does not have wheelchair accessible restrooms. The nearest wheelchair accessible restrooms will be in the Garden Mausoleum.
